Coming Around

Whew! These last couple months have earned me a mushy butt!!! --Among other things I won't horrify you with. Dang. Well, the important thing is that IT'S NOT PERMANENT! Between discussions with Sally and personal experiences, I have learned that no physical condition is ever permanent. I will not always be weak and tired :o)

After re-culturing and identifying the culprit in making me sick, my doctor gave me a new antibiotic, and it seems to be working! Before my treatment, I could hardly walk from one side of the store to the other, without getting a little winded. But yesterday, I was able to walk 1/2 a mile with Pudge, and then jog all the way back with no rests in between! Man it felt good :o) I took this morning off of exercise, so that I don't push it. But yesterday was quite encouraging.

I don't know when I'll start racing again. I have a 13 mile walk in Clovis/Fresno in November, so I will have to start conditioning for that. Other than that... I don't want to commit myself to any triathlons or anything. With work getting more and more demanding, I don't want the added pressure that I MUST workout. I prefer to take it slow and low for a while. Either way, I'll be happy to spend the time getting healthier and walking with my "son."

Canada bound in 2009

As 2008 winds down with the Ironman Arizona race on Nov. 23, 2009 is shaping up to be another great year. I am officially going to the Ironman Canada triathlon on Aug. 30, 2009. Next to Hawai'i, IM Canada is the oldest and certainly one of the most popular Ironman events in the world. It also one of the toughest. Woo Hoo... looking forward to it.

Other race considerations for 2009: American River 50-mile run in Sacramento, Vineman 70.3 triathlon in Santa Rosa, and Ironman Arizona 2009 (maybe). However, I will probably forego IM Arizona if I have 3 big races in 2009. And of course Jen will have her first sprint triathlon sometime in 2009. We will keep you posted.
